Siena Catholic Academy, Rochester (Grades 7 & 8)
Siena Catholic Academy is a coeducational Catholic middle school, located behind St. Thomas More Church at 2617 East Avenue in Brighton, NY, a suburb of Rochester, NY in Monroe County and part of the Diocese of Rochester. Siena is accredited by The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The school opened its doors for the first time in 1993. Siena Catholic Academy currently has 30 staff members and close to 300 seventh and eighth graders from over 20 public school districts representing all Monroe County Catholic Elementary schools and nearly 50 parishes. Siena is the only Diocesan middle school in Monroe County.
Siena Catholic Academy strives to help every student reach his or her full potential. We offer an excellent transitional program from elementary school to high school in a safe and disciplined environment.The development of each student as a whole person in a Christ-centered environment makes our school unique. The faculty teaches respect for self and others, responsibility, and a commitment to living the Catholic faith.
At Siena we strive to have a clear understanding of the many unique characteristics this age group brings to the school setting that affects learning. Middle school students grow significantly physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially during 7th and 8th grade. Boys and Girls are able to learn and grow together at this age in a safe environment.
Each day is filled with instruction in Religion, Math, Advanced Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language (French or Spanish) or Academic Intervention Class ( AIP) and an Academic Intervention Services Program called MAX. The schedule also includes Art, Computer Technology, Music, and Physical Education. Our NY State Assessment scores are among the highest compared to the surrounding public school districts as well as non-public schools.
Clubs and activities are offered including Leadership Council, LEGO League, Newspaper, Stock Club, History Club, Yearbook, Band and Choir. Each spring our students present a musical play that in past years has included: Seussical, Jr., High School Musical, Willie Wonka, Jr., Annie,Jr., Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof, Jr., You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, etc. Sports include soccer, cross country track, basketball, skiing, lacrosse, volleyball, softball, baseball, track, cheerleading, and golf.
Liturgical celebrations include Masses, Penance Services, Rosary, Stations of the Cross, and May Crowning. Faculty, students and their parents are also very committed to community outreach. A service activities take place throughout the year.
There is no entrance exam for Siena. The tuition structure is the same as the Catholic Elementary Schools in Monroe County. Registration begins February 1st of each year. Registration packets can be obtained at your current Catholic Elementary School or the Siena Catholic Academy office.
